April reading will be a change of pace. I have instructed the students to spend their reading time getting to know their historical figure who will be the subject of their research report paper. They should record their sources as they go, for the bibliography. We begin taking some notes in class on Tuesday, April 17. They will be working on the report both in class and at home. The students need to have their journal/binder at school each day, along with the source they are currently utilizing. They should also keep the sample outline handy, since this will help them remember their main idea headings as they go along.
This is a valuable experience for the students. They are always proud of their finished reports, and learn so much when they share them with each other too.
